Emma Gonzalez And The Number Six

Enough Indeed

Today at the “March For Our Lives” rallies across the country which some might say should be called “March For Some Of Our Lives As Long As You Agree With Us Politically, Otherwise Bugger Off,” concerned people gathered to have their concerns and voices heard.

Truly, one the best parts of living in a peaceful, republic and I truly do love this type of participation.

In Washington D.C., Parkland student and one of the defacto leaders of this movement, Emma Gonzalez, gave a moving speech (CNN coverage) that included a period of six minutes and twenty seconds of silence while she stoically stared out into the crowd. This moment of silence was representative of the amount of time the killer had shooting up the building before he exited, killing 17 people and wounding many others.

This was an incredibly poignant moment. Something, I dare say, out of a Hollywood script.

As I sat and watched her stare out into the crowd I began to wonder what else happened in those six minutes or months or years.

Here is what I came up with.

* For just over six minutes, a number of Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies stayed outside of the school and waited for something. They did not engage an evil human and possibly save some from dying or being wounded. (Covered here at Red State back In February)

I don’t think we still have a clear answer why.

* In the first six months of 2017, Chicago, Illinois had 1,787 (Chicago Tribune) shootings and 323 deaths (Chicago Tribune) despite having some of the nation’s strongest gun laws.

Why and how that is possible is still a mystery.

I would imagine that Ms. Gonzalez has connections with CNN producers who conducted the Jerry Springer-like event in Florida where Sheriff Israel and NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch appeared. Maybe Emma could use her newfound influence to persuade CNN to hold a similar event in Chicago being that area has virtually been ignored. I would love to see Dana and the Sheriff expound on how strict gun laws have not really worked in one of America’s great cities.

Also speaking of the Sheriff of Broward County.

*How many times in the six years that Sheriff Israel has been Sheriff, did that department respond to calls about the shooter? How many times in those six years did they drop the ball and let this monster walk towards that day and kill and wound those people?

According to multiple sources, it was more than six (Washington Examiner).

I really do hope all these people stay engaged and ask tough questions of all people in power and of themselves. I hope Emma Gonzalez continues being engaged and not backing down.

Yet to be faithful to those who passed, there are a lot of issues that contain the number six and if you truly want change, you have to ask those tough questions and demand answers.

Otherwise, this movement will be deep-sixed.

Stop Whining About Trump Signing The Omnibus Bill

As has been covered extensively here on the pages of Red State by my colleagues, there has been a lot of coverage of El Presidente 45 signing a garbage bill delivered to him by a Republican-controlled Congress.

With Omnibus Signing, Trump Formally Surrenders To The Swamp

Budget Betrayal Threatens GOP Control Of Congress

A Great Gnashing Of Teeth, As Trump World Reacts To President’s Veto Fake-Out

So let me start out by saying I did not vote for President Trump so you can save the Trump lackey tag for someone else. I’m a political realist that sees things for as they are, not as we hope they would be after seeing our favorite politicians commercial and we have stars in our eyes.

What I have not seen covered is that if any other President with an R after their name had been sent this bill by a Republican-controlled Congress to his desk, what would have happened.

They would have signed it.

Oh, sure, I believe they might have shaved a couple billion or millions here and then sighed in front of a camera to say ” We will do better next time”

I know that Sen. Rand Paul or Sen. Ted Cruz would quite possibly put up a valiant fight and even shut down the government for a time to stop this type of monstrosity from ever becoming law. Yet if the GOP controlled Congress under Pres. Paul or Cruz had passed anything like this they would have signed it eventually.

They would have had too.

The Congress holds the purse strings and the very same leadership that sent President Obama his last budget that contained a 500 billion dollar deficit, just sent a Republican POTUS  a budget that contains over a TRILLION in the red.

Seriously, think about that for a bit.

Our Congress right now is led by people who are making political calculations that I overall disagree with. They are living and acting in fear and good leadership never allows that to control you as you strive to do the right thing.

They could not even defund Planned Parenthood.

So please continue railing on President Trump. I know he could have, should have, done more and those are all legit arguments.

Still, had a Republican-controlled Congress had the guts to send him a bill after a bruising fight in both chambers to actually reduce the deficit even further from FY 2016-2017 he would have signed that too.

Stop whining about the President.

Start yelling at the GOP in Congress.

Hillary Clinton’s 42 Reasons She LOST

Forget the TOP TEN list you usually get from the media. We have dug deep here at Red State and courtesy of our friends across the pond at Daily Mail we now have the 42 REASONS HILLARY LOST.

Now I know what you are thinking, just 42? Seems with her world tour of complaining it should be in the mid 100’s by now.

I should mention before I begin that the article listed above is a story about former Clinton pollster Mark Penn’s new book called ” Microtrends Squared: The New Small Forces Driving Today’s Big Disruptions.” and in it, he reveals that it was not really a secret that the Clinton’s had an open marriage.

That is why I ‘m going to focus on the 42 reasons good ole Hill lost because the reasons are just lovely. Here are some of my personal favorites.

‘I was the victim of a very broad assumption that I was going to win,’ she told the Codecon convention.
( ok that makes sense, I guess)

Clinton says polls in key states did not serve her.

‘I think polling is going to have to undergo some revisions in how they actually measure people,’ she told the Codecon convention.

‘How they reach people. The best assessments as of right now are that the polling was not that inaccurate, but it was predominantly national polling and I won nationally.’
( So everyone assumed she would win based on the bad polling numbers. Gotcha)

The newspaper was blamed as early as May at the Codecon conference in Rancho Palos Verde, California.

She singled out its managing editor Dean Baquet – the paper’s most senior editor – and said of coverage of her email issue under his direction: ‘They covered it like it was Pearl Harbor.’
( That analogy has so many routes but I won’t go there)

Hillary does not do Netflix and chill – or if she does, she doesn’t find it very relaxing.

‘Eight of the top 10 political documentaries on Netflix were screeds against President Obama and me,’ she claimed at the Codecon convention.
( Can you imagine her Netflix and chilling with Tony Weiner and Huma? Nope, neither can I.)

The NBC Today show anchor quizzed both candidates at a ‘commander-in-chief forum’ on board Intrepid in New York.

But Clinton – who went first in the back-to-back interviews, complained about Lauer focusing on her secret server and whether it raised questions over her trustworthiness.

‘Lauer had turned what should have been a serious discussion into a pointless ambush. What a waste of time,’ she writes in What Happened. She later delighted in his firing for sexual misconduct, saying in December: ‘Every day I believe more in karma.’
( Matt Lauer asks ONE semi-tough question of a Democrat and he gets kicked like this by Hillary. #Shameful)

Steele on CPAC Leadership, Trump and GOP

CPAC 2018 has been over for a month but you never know what can still bubble up from the annual gathering of “conservatives” weeks or months later.

In a previous post by Red State writer Joe Cunningham, Steele Fires Back At CPAC Official Who Said Race Got Him RNC Chairman Role the story of a mindless gaffe was covered.

The former Lt Governor of Maryland and RNC Chairman, Michael Steele is not done offering his thoughts on the matter.

In a wide-ranging interview with Matt Lewis on his podcast Matt Lewis And The News, Mr. Steele talks about his background as an adopted son, his time as chairman of the RNC and the Republican party under President Donald Trump.

On the leadership of CPAC, Mr. Steele has this to say

“The leadership of CPAC is reflecting a form, is embracing a form of racist language that I think is unbecoming of Republicans let alone offensive to the ideals of Ronald Reagan.

Audio via Soundcloud

I truly hope that this was just a misreading of the situation and that Mr. Steele is off base here. Yet when someone with a long, distinguished career in Republican politics says something like this about the leadership of the largest gathering of the “base” of your party, you need to stop, take a pause, and do a gut check.

I hope we are better than this.

Listen to the full interview here where Michael Steele talks about all that is listed above and more. Matt Lewis And The News Interview With Michael Steele.

Let’s Hear From Andrew Breitbart

Still Making A Difference.

Fellow Red Stater Sarah Rumpf has a great read about how Andrew Breitbart still influences so many people today. She titled it Andrew Lives and he still does through so many people he influenced.

I am not the solid writer that so many of the people here at Red State are, but I do radio and had the pleasure of interviewing Andrew twice. I present these interviews here so that you can HEAR, what was going through his mind at the time of these sit-downs.

The first interview was done in Grand Rapids, Michigan in Feb of 2012. Andrew talks about the upcoming election involving President Obama, the influence of Ron Paul supporters and why it was bogus that Dana Loesch was disinvited as a speaker at an event due to pressure from outside groups.
Sound familiar?

The second interview was in Washington D.C. and I was joined by another fellow Red State writer, Teri Christoph. In this interview, he talks about how conservative women are the driving force in the tea party movement and also tells a story about ALMOST running into former congressman Anthony Weiner in a D.C restaurant.

I hope you take a moment to listen to these. These give a lil more of how he was with anyone he came across. You did not need to be a big outlet or a rising star for him to give you some time.

Andrew treated you the same.

He was a good and decent man who worked hard at doing the right thing for his family, his friends and the country he loved.

That is why so many people miss him every day and are taking a moment to remember him today.

Requisat en pacem

Lets Start Out With Thoughts And Prayers

Since the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, last Wednesday, there have been a lot of hot takes about what should have been done or what can be done going forward.

This is a natural response to such an evil event that is sickening to think about.

Yet one of the reactions that I have seen over and over again is that saying “Thoughts and Prayers” to the victims and their families is no longer is accepted and plain useless.

I’m wondering why.

Caleb Howe touched on this last week with his post Your Thoughts And Prayers Matter. Offer Them, Mean It, Let No One Deter You.

On Saturday, one of the students from the High School, Emma Gonzalez said this at a rally for the community as reported in People Magazine

“Every single person up here today, all these people should be home grieving,”  “But instead we are up here standing together because if all our government and President can do is send thoughts and prayers, then it’s time for victims to be the change that we need to see.”

I understand the need to do something right now, but why are we dismissing people offering condolences and healing through prayer?

I would suggest at the rally that is planned for March 24th ” March For Our Lives” that they start out with a prayer for guidance.  Doing something for the sake of doing something has never led to a good result. Possibly a prayer for guidance might help start this rally out on a positive note.

As we all witnessed last Wednesday in Parkland, evil exists in this world.

Asking for God’s guidance in combatting such evil is the best way to start a national conversation on how to move forward.

BREAKING. Conservatives Projected To Lose Outright Control In U.K. Parliament

Prime Minister Theresa May took a bit of a gamble back in April calling a “Snap Election” in the United Kingdom to strengthen the Tories position on Brexit.

This might have backfired.

According to early exit polls, the Tories look like they will fall short of the 326 needed for an outright majority and end up with a projected total 314. Down 17 from 331. Labor looks to be the big winner with a 34 seat gain up to 266.

The Tories will still have enough to be the largest majority but will need to form a coalition with one of the smaller parties to get a ruling majority, much like the one put together during former Prime Minster David Cameron’s first turn leading Parliment.

How this will affect the Brexit vote taken back in June of 2016 is going to be a hot topic after all the votes are counted if this trend continues.

We all know over here that projections sometimes do not turn out the way they are originally reported. President Hillary would no doubt agree, so this is one to watch until all the numbers are all counted.

The will go deep into the night across the pond and you can follow it all on BBC

Kathy Griffin Thinks Decapitation Is Edgy

Kathy Griffin is edgy.

TMZ has an exclusive photo  of the famed D-list comedienne holding a head of a decapitated Donald Trump. Griffin joked that her and the photographer, Tyler Shields, would need to head to Mexico or risk being thrown in jail.

This is what it has come to in America. We have to hate on someone so much for reasons we can’t really articulate, that holding a head representing a current President Of The United States, all bloody and mangled is “Fair Game.”

Does anyone find this funny? Even remotely?

Kathy Griffin is edgy all right. Right on the edge of being one of the crassest and unfunny people alive in the country today.
