Annual 'Fill the Boot' campaign kicks off in Lubbock

Lubbock Fire Rescue, the Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association kicked off their annual Fill the Boot campaign Thursday.  The fundraiser supports those with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related life-threatening diseases. More than 400 local heroes will be stationed at locations across Lubbock collecting money for the cause.

Power outages reported after storms

We’re seeing several power outages across the South Plains Wednesday morning following overnight storms. As of 5 am, the LP&L power outage map shows more than 60 reported outages around Lubbock.

Groundbreaking on 'New Legacy Home for Women'

The Lubbock Dream Center broke ground on the ‘New Legacy Home for Women’ Tuesday morning.  The home at 30th Street and Avenue J will have 24 beds and host women and children.  They will be able to live there for 15 months, during which time they’ll build support groups, learn financial skills, and be able to rebuild their lives. LPD confirms overnight shooting in central Lubbock

Lubbock Police have confirmed there was a shooting in central Lubbock early Monday morning. LPD says this was in the 2400 block of Avenue K. There is no word right now on what happened or who was involved, but EMS was called to the scene. Officers are at the scene now.
