High fire dangers Sunday, Windy and colder Monday

Fire dangers are the main weather story the next 24 hours.  A dryline tracks across the region during the day bringing very low humidity, gusty winds and high fire dangers, especially west of Lubbock.  A Fire Weather Warning is in effect from Noon Sunday through 7:00 p.m. Sunday.   Southwest winds are expected to increase to 20 to 35 mph with higher gusts possible. Lubbock Rainfall record in jeopardy of being tied Wednesday

Lubbock is on the verge of tying or breaking a rainfall record Wednesday and Thursday. If it doesn’t rain before midnight Wednesday, we will tie the record for most consecutive days without measurable rainfall in Lubbock weather history.
